Older, higher weighted horses do well in this race and this horse went very close to winning it on seasonal debut, just denied. He has a brilliant record when fresh and the yard do well over this C & D so, although better known as a chaser, worth a small bet having placed BOTH times at this distance over hurdles.

This consistent gelding loves this track and has a cracking 2 wins from attempts at this unique sharp venue. Needs the ground to stay on the goodish side but having gone close LTO, likes to have been primed for a tilt at this, a track the trainer and jockey also excel at (Lavelle 2 from 4 past 2 years chaser and 1 from 2 with Bellamy aboard)

Both looked worth chancing here, the former a good winner of this race las year who did us a nice turn 2 runs back at York. Changed stables which is a concern but the jockey takes off a useful 5lb. First Officer has been a model of consistency and should also go well.
