One Further Selection for Saturday, 8th April

Good afternoon folks

A tough days racing today to watch from my perspective, a few head scratchers but no damage thanks to the last who I thought was going to land the spoils so on we go.

Just one further bet for Saturday is as below, along with the list of tips already sent and their write up’s. Nothing more for tomorrow.

3:35 Musselburgh

WICKEYWICKEYWHEELS– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 14/1 5 places Skybet, 14/1 4 places generally

1:30 Haydock

BIG BOY BOBBY– 3/4 Pt Each way @ 18/1 Livescorebet 4 places, 16/1 4 places generally

Need to forgive the pulled up effort LTO but trainer explained the bad ground away for defeat that day.

The form of his 2nd when tipped and very narrowly beaten two runs back at Kempton is very strong form against this lot. The 3rd that day was just beaten in the Martin Pipe at the Festival and the 4th that day, Favoir WON the county hurdle over this distance at Cheltenham!

He needs better ground and his previous impressive win also reads well. Said by the trainer to have really strengthened up as a 5 year old, let’s hope the watering planned doesn’t scupper our chances. If not, this drying ground sees him going very close on form so fingers crossed!

1:50 Musselburgh

FINNS CHARM– 3/4 Pt Win @ 10/1 Bet365, 15/2 & 7/1 generally

Bred to get better with age, the son of Kingman bolted up here over 7 furlongs last season. This has been the plan, stable jockey booked who is brilliant here from the front so I envisage he gets him to the front from his cracking draw to steer him home in front for a trainer on fire that has Won 3 of the last 4 runnings of this classy race.

2:25 Musselburgh

ABDUCTION– 1.25 Pt Win @ 7/1 generally

DIRTYOLDTOWN– 3/4 Pt Win @ 8/1 generally

Abduction was desperately unlucky on his final outing over C & D and this Class 2 valuable contest MUST have been the plan 1st time out for this progressive horse. His record first time out is an impressive 1,2,1,2 so for a trainer/jockey who are 3 from 7 together here I feel, with look in running, he goes close!

Dirtyoldtown was tipped in the 3 year old handicap on the start of this card over 1mile by me last season and he was nailed on the post. The draw killed him in the Spring Mile Saturday so if none the worse for that run, he is well handicapped to also run a big race so I went with the two horses rather than strong each way at this tricky venue where luck in running definitely plays a massive effect on results!

2:40 Haydock

TIM PAT– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 20/1 Bet365 5 places, 16/1 6 places, 16/1 William Hill 5 places Skybet, 14/1 5 places generally

Tipped here LTO, ran too bad to be true. I am hoping the decision to let him run that day without a shoe was the answer along with the change of jockey?

His regular pilot is back in plate, is 3 from 6 aboard him including 2 from 3 over fences. The jockey combo are 2 from 3 ALL TIME when teaming up in Handicap chases here and Tim Pat was selected last time due to smooth C & D win so hopefully he can resume the winning thread for us!

3:00 Musselburgh

DIGITAL– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 25/1 Boost William Hill 4 places, 22/1 4 places normal, 20/1 4 places generally

Trainer and jockey did us a good turn last week with Harswell Duke and lets hope they can repeat the dose in this tough sprint. 3 from 7 at the track together, Digital is 1 from 1 here, travels smoothly and is well handicapped on his beating of favourite Zarzyni last season. From a nice draw I thought he was over priced.

3:15 Haydock

TIGER JET– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 16/1 5 places generally

His trainer Brian Ellison has found some serious form with four winners in the past fortnight and a bunch of others who have run well in defeat too, and this horse will surely be picking up another handicap hurdle before too long.

He justified strong market support when winning from a mark of 102 at Hexham at the start of the season and has since added a small novice event at Newcastle to his tally.

He’s rated 111 at the moment so needs another small PB but the third to Rafferty’s Return at Wetherby over Christmas reads well and he caught the eye when sixth at Kelso last month.

He was a bit outpaced around there and probably wasn’t ideally placed, in hindsight, but it was an encouraging run under a big weight and, given his natural keenness, the seven-year-old could be much better suited by the way this stronger contest is likely to pan out.
