Good morning folks
Another cracking profitable weekend, two nice winners but a tough days racing to watch from my perspective again, a few head scratching poor runs but as stated for the past few Sunday reviews, this crossover period is always tough with horses over the top on the National Hunt and some flat horses patently not ready. Tips are always picked for a reason.
Like Abduction who went off a ludicrous 11/1 and had beaten the winner cold the last twice? Still, he is one to follow this season and will pay us back I’m sure.
Big Boy Bobby ran poorly and looking at the results, the bottom weights dominated EVERY race, suggesting the watering on soft ground scuppered the chances of many, especially him as that Kempton form is VERY strong and no way should have run like that.
Kicking myself a little as Wise Eagle was a fancy but the 6/1 early price was too short I thought 1st time out. 9/1 was a cracking price and ours ended up shorter and gambled, ran no sort of race. That’s racing and tricky selecting early ahead of the event.
I have selections for today and tomorrow’s Irish Grand National as below.
Then I will be next back throughout the day Wednesday for three stellar days racing from Aintree culminating in the ‘Grand National’ Saturday which will be treated as a ‘Festival’ and kept separate from the main account bets (see reasoning below selections) Back Wednesday.
4:15 Plumpton
BOURBALI– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 11/1 4 places generally
Smooth traveller, loves this track with 2 wins and a 3rd from 3 attempts. Hopefully the drop back in trip will suit and his in form trainer has a 33% Strike rate (50% place) when teaming up here with Brendan Powell. Over priced IMO and could go very well.
5:00 Fairyhouse ‘Irish Grand National’ Monday 10/04/2023
THE GOFFER– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 20/1 6 places generally
I have done very well over the years at Aintree and especially enjoy the big field handicaps so the usual heads up for loyal members old & new the following is the plan – –
“As previously stated, this will be treated as a ‘Festival’, these bets are kept separate from the main account and I will be personally throwing targeted darts at a few biggies! With the volume of racing coming up over the 3 day’s it’s sensible to do that but rest assured these selections are picked in the same thorough, hard working way/manner as always!
I will be backing them to according stakes and I always put aside a 50 point x £30 stake bank for such meetings/weekends, knowing full well I could lose the lot which is most definitely NOT the plan!! Thats an average of 17 points per day over the 3 days normally but I don’t envisage using anywhere near that amount.
We have nailed some cracking gains in the past so lets hope we can add to the weekend winners.
The results will NOT be recorded against the main account in order not to damage that in a worst case scenario which can happen (hopefully not!)
So it makes sense to do that to my mind and that is what I do with my own money that I have saved and put to one side willing to lose it as with Cheltenham/Newmarket/Ascot/Doncaster/York/Goodwood’s etc and other meetings of this ilk so;
Selections for Thursday through to Saturday will be sent out the evening before their designated assignments, NO later than 7:30PM so with that I will be back Wednesday
