Morning folks
A crap end to a good week and cracking month!
Gambled horses finishing tailed of last in a sprint is unheard of! No excuses but the weather is doing us no favours whatsoever at the moment. I purposely waited until yesterday morning and picked accordingly for quickening ground, only to be scuppered by heavy rain, as we were at Aintree!
Simon Rowlands echoed the point on ATR, who would be a form analyst punter aye at times? Racing is all about constants with the ground ‘THE’ biggest significant factor IMO.
How the jumps tracks can be quick and the flat slow I have no idea, as at Sandown where Coolavalla needed more juice. He ran a stormer in the circumstances given he was hampered also.
Anyway, when I am winning I always look to improve rather than tinker. After all, this process has served me handsomely for over 20 odd years and stood the test of time but have to be self critical and say too many selections.
In my defence, my forte is picking out improving young horses but as is the case with this great sport, with the so many uncontrollable factors out of my hands, the day of selection is NOT always the day. Hence why I say follow my tips on their next outings as the WILL Definitely pay us back in time!
At least I feel I can breath now the jumps has ended and this period with Cheltenham, Aintree & Punchestown is quality but combined with the volume of good handicaps on the flat that is a hell of a lot of work.
My weakness in narrowing down bets. We saw with Regarding Ruth and sods law dictates the lesser half fancied 33/1 shots win when you have a strong 6/1 shot say that gets into trouble. Leaving the former selection out of the tips would break my heart if YOU good folk missed it.
Judging short priced favourites I am also useless at!
My tracker is brimming already with horses so I am hoping for a Stellar season. The likes of Tuxedo Junction, Splendent, Abduction (unlucky yesterday over 5F!) etc will be winning for us no doubt but the day I chose then things transpired like too being too keen.
I am taking a few days off the form study in order to recharge for the weekend.
It is the 3 day Newmarket Guineas meeting commencing Friday. The stakes 2 year old/3 year old races wouldn’t be my bag so I will concentrate mainly on the spattering of quality handicaps and the accompanying good races from the other meetings so I will be back throughout the day on Thursday with any selections for Day 1, Friday 5th May 2023.
Happy Bank Holiday, have a great week.
