**Review & a Selection for Today**

Good morning folks

A very, very frustrating day yesterday, and month on the whole, but a nice place profit! The win part makes a massive difference though and that’s the agonising part!

Lots of very well found, hard work form researched big priced horses, which is my forte, that ran exceptionally well (and they will pay us back down the line) but, as per, the day of the selection, especially the evening before, so many things need to fall our way on the day!

It started with the Dante festival at York, where Point Lynas looked all over the winner. Then Titan Rock & Majestic were both compromised by track biases where high drawn outsiders swooped stands side.

It happened again yesterday with Monopolise who ran a cracker, simply no chance with the stands side runner!

Then old friend Mondammej, who, had the jockey surely held his original position given the ground he covered, would have gone mightily close?

Over to Haydock where Makarova, in hindsight couldn’t win!

Finally, the most agonising was Existent. I may be wrong (don’t feel I am I have good eye’s) would have gone mightily close, if not won?, had the jockey sat and suffered just a little longer, instead of switching 4 wide mid pack. I still thought he could get up but the stands side was the place to be and it wasn’t the the 1st time on the day I was upset with jockey Ghiana, who although wouldn’t have beaten the winner, didn’t cover himself in glory on Just Bring It! Still, a cracker of a run from Existent!

These unexposed, guesswork formwise, well bred horse running in handicaps going off favourites are just NOT my thing!

Plenty would have been cheering favourites but not for me. The value lies in the bigger priced horse IMO, I will admit I am simply no good at judging short priced horses!

These tracks desperately need to sort out watering/track biases as tipping the evening before, and punting, can be impossible at times on the flat.

Form at times bewilders you (that’s why the tracker is deadly for mine) as Hectic, on paper, ran poorly. But the form was there for me to clearly see as he comfortably finished in front of the 2nd, and his stablemate 4th Dark Thirty twice yet was 10 lengths behind this time?? ..Maybe it was the ground but he had won on good to firm so who knows? One to keep inside.

Anyway, on we go and I am going to take a big swing at a final one who I feel is massively overpriced and caught my eye a couple of times previously.

3:50 York

ASPEN GROVE– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 75/1 boost William Hill, 66/1 3 places generally (Bet365 go 40/1 4 places if you so wish, BetfairSprtBk 33’s)

She has shown, and finished in front and around a lot of these yet it is being overlooked. Speculative given the nature of the race but the jockey has ridden her twice (1st & 3rd) with the win an impressive C & D effort where she showed a smart turn of foot (Eternal Silence well behind)

Have a nice Bank Holiday Weekend, I will be back tomorrow mid morning with the week ahead mail. I will have a look at the Bank Holiday action but unsure if any selections will be forthcoming but will update accordingly.

Thanks
