The Week Ahead and Final Selection for May

Good morning folks

A tough month personally and frustrating to watch many of the selections but that’s this tough game we all love.

Yesterday’s selection was speculative granted but the watering policy (don’t get me started) never materialised at the Curragh. Our selection needed a bit of give but it was clear ALL day the ground was quick and it was impossible to come from behind, even for the CLASS horses who even prominently ridden struggled to challenge/go by! Still, kicked myself for a poor one there!

On we move and the week ahead sees the Epsom Derby meeting commence Friday so after today, I will back for the start of a new month on Thursday with any Day 1 selections for that meet.

I had a good look today so a final selection for May and a horse that I have always liked, and shaped very well two runs back is as below..Back Thursday.

4:00 Redcar

HIGHWAYGREY– 1/2 Pt Each way @ 15/1 4 places Bet365, 16/1 3 11/1 4 places generally

A smooth travelling horse with a good turn of foot on his day, Highwaygrey needs to put a muted run behind him LTO but he started slowly and the Tim Easterby yard were woefully out of form at that time. Now firing on all cylinders, he has had 5 winners from last 10 runners! This horse is well handicapped on his best form, has a nice draw in stall 3 to track and attack and also gone close in this contest before so, although this normally goes to a 4 or 5 year old, they are not a great bunch this year so worth chancing I thought.
