One Further Tip, Sat 14th Oct 2023

Good evening folks

Think we would have gone close in the last if not forfeiting 7 lengths!! Still, place money picked up with Skybet paying 5 places (6 originally and tipped at that) if you could get it. A decent day anyway and very competitive tomorrow so just one further tip (in the Ces) is as below, along with the ones already sent and their write ups. Nothing further for tomorrow

2:40 Newmarket

EMIYN – 1/2 Pt EW 50/1 6 places B.O.G Corals, 50/1 6 places generally (drifting)

Prominent racer, will relish the ground and go well from the front. A lively outsider that can cover the win bets if just placing.

2:25 York

MAGICAL SPIRIT – 1/2 Pt EW 33/1 6 places generally

HYPERFOCUS – 1/2 Pt EW 33/1 6 places generally

Hyperfocus has twice been narrowly denied off higher marks in this very race (when tipped by me so 3rd time lucky?) Although he is 9 should relish conditions from the front. As should Magical Spirit, who I tipped LTO out at Ayr and has also placed in this race previously. He was too fresh off a break but this looks to have been the plan. Back off last winning mark, this smooth traveller loves the ground and this track so I thought worth chancing the pair on what is going to be a tough day!

2:40 Newmarket

TEMPORIZE – 3/4 Pt Win 16/1 generally

JESSE EVANS – 3/4 Pt Win 14/1 generally

I found this really tough so with thunderstorms predicted, happy to play these two..

3:35 York

TITIAN – 3/4 Pt EW 12/1 4 places generally

Looks primed for a big run. There is not much pace on in this and we saw today prominent racers made hay which is his bag and this horse has the pace for 1mile as we saw LTO on good ground at Redcar. Trainer/jock combo 3 winners from last 9 and have posted a form line of 1,2,3,2,1 in 1m 2f handicaps ALL Time! Graham Lee has finished 2nd & 3rd aboard him from 2 rides, LTO in the Redcar mile. Titian, although he finds winning difficult, is ultra consistent, will love the ground (unlike many of the others) and won the only time he tackled the Knavesmire turf so all in all I expect him to run a very good race here!

3:50 Newmarket

REAL GAIN – 3/4 Pt Win @ 15/2 generally

He’d looked promising enough previously but seemed to have grown up all of a sudden when making a mockery of his handicap mark (91) over this course and distance late last month (replay below), and the way he hits the ground leaves the impression he could step forward again with a bit of ease underfoot. His half-brother Real Force won races on testing ground so I’ve got no concerns on that score.

Trainer Richard Hughes has had a cracking season already and this looks a bit of a stable star, with whom he could end the year on a real high.

4:15 Chepstow

PYRAMID PLACE – 3/4 Pt EW 40/1 5 places generally

Smashed in the betting, looks sure to go well for a trainer/jockey combo on fire. Low weights must go well given the ground and this fellow will love the ground with his proven stamina over further standing him in good stead given how they are finishing!

5:00 Newmarket

EMBRACE – 3/4 Pt EW 25/1 4 places generally

I am hoping the Thunderstorms hit Newmarket as predicted and it is raining there heavily as we speak. Three year old’s have a great record in this and if you recall, I tipped this horse LTO at Newbury where she cantered into the lead before being picked up late. She ran in the Guineas here so this is a big drop in class compared to that Group 1 and she didn’t run at all badly so I am not bothered that was a handicap last time as a few previous winners of this have done that also.

She travels so strongly so a drop to sprinting, for a very shrewd yard, looks like it might pay dividends and, drawn around the pace, if the ground rides softer than today, she can go very well IMO.
