Morning folks
It’s been a poorly week for me and a disappointing end to a month that started well, although not disastrous. It was compounded yesterday by bloody Look Back Smiling winning! I knew after the gates opened he WOULD win and so it it proved to my real annoyance!! Hope some of you had something on?
Having been in this business and making good money EVERY year for a quarter of a Century now, I know these ending weeks of the flat racing finishing and the jump racing starting to kick into gear, a crossover of disciplines I call it, is a very very tough period.
Have the flat horses had enough/are the winter jumpers ready?
A watching brief pays dividends and I like how Rock My Way travelled, a drop in trip should pay off as I think he is well handicapped.
I don’t know why the jockey aboard Swapped didn’t deploy the go from the front tactics I assumed he would as he ALWAYS makes the running and that’s how it proved for the winner!
Beyond Midnight was most disappointing and very well fancied. Bucephalus was nothing like the horse who won a Class 3 C & D handicap (again from the front)
I had a good look at the Aintree card but couldn’t find a standout bet. Lots of horses to watch and go to war with at a later date and that is my forte, finding well handicapped horses that WILL always pay us down the line as they are picked originally for a very good reason, just sometimes the day of selection doesn’t go to plan. It is racing after all.
Getting myself up to the sharps is the order of this week. There are a few nice looking races Friday at this early stage with runners unknown so I shall have a good look at some of those to try and find us something to kick off a new month well with.
I will be back Thursday early evening if I can find any selections. If not, I will update accordingly.
