A Final Boxing Day Selection

Good afternoon folks

One further selection for Boxing Day. Nothing else to say except have a great Christmas Day.

1:05 Aintree

MAKING HEADWAY – 1/2 Pt EW 22/1 4 places generally (drifting and 25’s normal terms)

This imposing 6 year old Irish point recruit made a winning start to his hurdle career at Carlisle (2m1f, heavy) in October before chasing home Kamsinas in the 2m Haydock Grade 2 (good to soft) 31 days ago. That form is already working out strongly with 2 winners from 3 runners to date coming out to win next time.

By Malinas (German sire) he is bred to relish testing conditions which it is sure to be on Merseyside with the going stick reading very low (3) as we speak. Kamsinas, who is small and has the look of a speedier horse to me got first run on him at that speed favouring track but our fellow impressed with the way he travelled and the way he made his ground up smoothly.

There should be a lot more to come from Making Headway who is a lightly raced 5yo and the fact this race should place more emphasis on stamina given the amount of front runners lining up and the testing terrain, that should very much be in is favour and I think he can go well in a tough race at a big price.
