Big Debates would have placed at least IMO but that’s racing. I did have a look for today but nothing stood out. Normal service is resumed with Saturday’s racing, a lot of short runner fields though which makes betting tricky. Having said that, a first selection is below. More to follow later

THE RUSSIAN DOYEN – ¾ Pt Win @ 5/1 generally
Shaped well LTO from a long lay off and has been generously dropped in the weights which makes him a danger to this lot. He loves Newbury with two wins and the booking of Harry Cobden suggests a big effort is in the offing as he is 3 from 8 on him including an impressive C & D win off 1lb higher. If avoiding the dreaded bounce, looks weighted to go close.
