The Week Ahead

Good morning folks

At the end of the day, a disappointing couple of days, after a cracking weekend last. Glad the sand racing is out of the way as nothing went right for us. Had Youthful King been given a better ride or Billyjoh we may have done better. Sir Oliver never got a chance either.

I felt I definitely picked the right horses, form and results tell you that, but my strongest fancies in Storm Catcher & Symbol of Light simply pulled too hard off funerial paces. When races are run like that it’s always a challenge but that’s out of my control. On another day we would make hay, that’s what makes this game so hard, the imponderables! That’s why the long run counts as class always comes out with the ups and downs throughout the year.

The ITV crew haven’t a clue, saying the winners were Group horses but when you listen to the jocks THEY told you they went sedately and quickened. It was easy to see.

Yesterday was agony. Holly & Conyers Hill came there cantering and BOTH looked certain winners and should both have WON. Foe one of them not to win was harsh but for NEITHER!! How they didn’t I still cannot believe this morning, the stuumbe cost Holly and I have never seen a horse do what Effernock Fizz did after looking spent. That cost us a huge haul of points and the difference between a great day or not.

No big deal after a few points dropped and we are well in front for the year. We have been up and down and consistent with no big dips but you know now I feel this more than anyone. Unlike 90% of so called tipsters in this game, I want and always try my best for you and the near misses hurt me a lot, hence still thinking how they got beat this morning.

We move on though. I had a look a the jumps today but they seem tough over in Ireland and I have my focus leaning towards the flat. Obviously I will concentrate hard on the Aintree 3 day meeting & Scottish Grand National meetings then we hit Newmarket in May when the flat ramps up.

I shall have a good look at the Bank Holiday Monday cards later. I may send out an update but more than likely send any selections out in the morning before Midday.
