For the benefit of new members we are resending all the Boxing Day selections
Merry Christmas folks, a first selection for Boxing Day is below. More to follow
12:45 Kempton
ES PERFECTO – 3/4 Pt EW @ 10/1 boost Hills, 9/1 normal and boosts generally
Won very nicely over C & D last time out, that should have boosted his confidence and he boasts some strong chase form from last season. Third in this race last year when it wasn’t run to suit, I can see this bigger field/stronger gallop suiting admirably so for a trainer in form, who is a winner and a second at this track when teaming up with the jockey, should go very well at a value price.
Two further bets. Both have questions to answer after their last runs, hence win only the pair, but enough reasons to chance at the prices. More to follow
1:40 Aintree
BINGOO– 3/4Pt Win @ 11/1 Bet365, 9/1 drifting generally
Last years winner, unseated last time after running well. He is back off the same mark as last year and although the trainer could do with a winner, he has a good record (2 from 6) when putting up Charlotte Jones at this track.
3:40 Kempton
MAHONS GLORY– 3/4Pt Win @ 12/1 drifting generally
Last years impressive, front running winner, needs to put a poor run over chases behind him but the cheekpieces go back on (previous wins in them) and the small yard is on fire with 4 of their last 8 runners winning. Hopefully, the useful claiming jockey doesn’t set him alight like he did for us on Steel Ally on Saturday and if not, can go well at a track that favours horses from the front.
Two All Weather selections. More to follow later, maybe in the morning will update either way.
4:05 Wolverhampton
INTENSO – 3/4Pt Win @ 10/1 Bet365, 9/1 & 8/1 generally
With only the 6 runners it’s win only. Bought out of the Gosden yard, this horse is still only 4 and has plenty of further improvement in him IMO, especially on his favoured All weather surface where he is 2 wins, 2 thirds from 4 runs! The relatively unknown yard are in fine form, 3 winners and 3 seconds from their last and I like the small field as I expect/want him to go from the front, as he did over C & D when thrashing bottom weight for this Haku, winning very stylishly. He has a good record fresh, the jockey is a winner & placer from 2 C & D rides so although back from a break, at the price I thought well worth chancing.
4:35 Wolverhampton
BRASIL POWER – 3/4 Pt EW @ 13/2 Bet365 4 places, 6/1 normal boosts 4 places generally
Improving, he was very impressive over C & D. He is back from a break but is an eye-catchingly impressive 3 wins & a 3rd from such absences and is again from a yard in fine form who utilise the jockey’s claim very well (3 from 6 at the track past 5 years which includes their last 2 runners!!!) He finishes his races off very strongly so I hope he gets a good position from his inside berth and if so should be on the premises at the very least.
More to follow later, maybe in the morning will update either way.
1:35 Wetherby
SINE N0MINE – 3/4Pt Win @ 7/1 Hills boost, 13/2 generally
A tough race, could be well handicapped and did us a nice turn at the Festival. This strong, smooth traveller bolted up over C & D so with question marks over the others, and a useful 5lb claimer enlisted who has 1 ride, 1 winner at the track, worth chancing.
Good Evening folks
Two more for Boxing Day, nothing further. Back late afternoon for Friday’s action.
2:30 Kempton
GENERAL EN CHEF – 1/2 Pt EW @ 55/1 Paddy Power Power up 4 places, 50/1 4 places generally
A very open contest but this horse travelled like a dream last time so I have to chance this smooth traveller at the huge odds, boosted by what the trainer states:
Quote
Noel George, joint-trainer: “I think he’s going to run a massive race. I’ve never had him as good as he is. In his first run over British fences he was fourth in the Coral Gold Cup when he probably got there a little bit too soon.”
3:45 Wincanton
DOUBLE DRAGON – 1/2 Pt EW @ 12/1 Bet365 4 places, 11/1 4 places generally
This 4 year old displayed a good turn of foot on the run-in to beat a dual subsequent winner in a Ffos Las maiden in May. There were also lots of subsequent winners in behind so it looks good form. He would have hated the soft ground when a respectable fourth over C&D on last month’s handicap debut back from a break so with the drying ground in his favour should go well.
