A tough start to this year, the racing is super competitive and so much needs to go right. A small loss yesterday, saved by the placers, so no real damage and a few ran well but we were badly compromised by draw, circumstances etc. Shagraan would have won IMO had he been drawn high and surely so would Pals Batallion had he not stood still in the stalls, then switched to the centre before back again and he flew home to grab the place money.
Yanifer was in another very slowly run race and had no chance pulling and we could say the draw beat him but stall 11 won it!
We are getting some ridiculously too far held up rides, and my two strongest fancies, Riot got struck into at the start so that’s understandable and that was the form with Mums Tipple but the most ridiculous ride IMO, from a supposedly world class jockey, was Rock Melody.
It drifted to an unbelievable 20/1 but what was he doing? No need to sit off that far and finished off well to just miss the place for us!
That’s what makes racing and reading form so tough, you get good selections and the jockeys need to play ball but it is what it is I guess and no real damage so on we go.
This week sees the two day big Epsom meeting starting Friday, with the Derby on Saturday so I will be back next late Thursday afternoon onwards with any Friday selections.
I do have an ITV one for today I have had my eye on, it is speculative/could blow out again and he needs to bounce back, hence the price but worth chancing at a course he has won at.
