A Trio More Races, Sat 8th March 2025

Good afternoon folks

A trio of further races are below, along with the one’s already sent and their write ups. Nothing more doing for Saturday.

15:35 Ayr

MEDIEVAL GOLD – 1.25 Pt Win @ 9/2 Hill boost, 4/1 generally

This 5 year old very much caught my eye last time where he jumped and travelled smoothly into contention but finding the 2m 3f trip to far in the Heavy going. It’s soft at Ayr so weight should count so if he performs as well as he has to date, should take a world of stopping from the foot of the weights!

17:05 Wolverhampton

PROBE – 1/2 Pt Win @ 18/1 Hills, 12/1 generally

SIR LES PATTERSON – 1/2 Pt Win @ 16/1 Paddy Power, 14/1 generally

I will chance these class droppers win only as fitness is always taken on trust but Probe bolted up here off a a similar long absence and relishes the AW. Sir Les Patterson thrashed horses now rated 110 & 94 at Kempton, GIVING them 7lbs! That make him look very attractively weighted here and his sire was a Top Australian sprinter so still only 4 could improve further for a shrewd yard. They could blow out today but at the big prices I will pay to chance they are ready as this is a good prize.

18:15 Wolverhampton

CIVIL LAW – 3/4 Pt EW @ 15/2 Skybet 4 places, 6/1 4 places Bet365 9/1 3, 8’s & 15/2 generally

The handicapper has given this horse a serious chance. He loves this track (5wins from 12 runs placing 8 times!) and has been running in much better class races than these. Has a good record in March and was noted making good late headway from last at Lingfield in a slowly run race so should go very well

4:25 Sandown

HARD DU SEUIL – 1/2 Pt EW @ 30/1 Hills boost 5 places, 28/1 5 places generally

KING WILLIAM RUFUS – 1/2 Pt EW @ 20/1 Skybet 6 places, 20/1 5 places generally

King William Rufus should go well from front and the drying ground should suit. He ran very at Newbury last time on unsuitable terrain, still finishing 6th and he was in front over the last. Hardy Du Seuil I also like. He likes this track but the key is his mark. From 129 and below he is 3 wins and a place from 5 efforts. The decent 7lb claimer reduces the burden further (effectively 122!) and he too ran a cracker at Windsor last time under this jockey. That race was hot and he had Go Dante well beaten. The trainer does well with his runners here so at a big value priced, worth backing also.

14:45 Wolverhampton

ZOFFANDIA – 1/2 Pt EW @ 16/1 Bet365 4 places, 14/1 4 places generally

4 year old’s have done well in this ‘Lincoln Trial’ and this strapping gelding impressed with his win last time over a few of today’s rivals. He has snuck in at the bottom of the weights, carrying a very attractive racing weight of 8st 3lb! The trainer and jockey team up well, especially on the AW and in handicaps running at near 30%. The trainer also has a good record with his last time out winners so although he has a tricky draw in Stall 1 to overcome, I though he was worth chancing at a tasty price.

15:00 Sandown

MADAME LE PAPILLON – 1/2 Pt EW @ 40/1 Bet365, 36 boosts Will Hill/Lads, 33/1 generally

14:25 Sandown

Caught the eye back from a long break last time, cantering through the race and coming to challenge before a lack of a run told. Should strip much fitter here and she looked huge odds to me.

15:35 Sandown

JAVA POINT – 1.25 WIN @ 11/2 Lads, 5/1 generally

Pulled up last time so needs to be forgiven that but he is dropping in class against these. Drying ground is the key and the jockey (1 from 1 ALL Time for this trainer here on this horse!) is 3 wins from 5 on him at at this 3 mile trip. Like I say, needs to put that last effort behind him, hence win only, but there was enough to give him a shot.
