A Trio of Further Tips, Sat 25th May 2024

Evening folks

Three more for tomorrow below, along with the ones already sent and their write ups. Nothing further for Saturday.

4:05 Chester

YANIFER – 1/2 Pt EW @ 36/1 boost Ladbrokes 3 places, 33/1 3 places generally

Little know trainer is in superb form, registering 7 winners and 5 further 2nd’s & 3rds from her last 14 runners!! This horse could blow out after over 400 days off the track but he has gone well fresh in the past. He loves the Roodee with a win & narrowly beaten 2nd the ONLY twice he has raced over C & D! Well drawn to adopt his prominent racing style, as I said he could badly need the run but given the said above, at a huge price worth paying to find out.

3:55 York

UP THE JAZZ – 1/2 Pt EW @ 18/1 Paddy Power 6 places, 20/1 5 places generally

Fahey is going well and loves a winner at his beloved Knavesmire. We already have one of his in the sprint but this horse is a big price given his last 2 runs at this track that came in Class 2 events at the backend of last season. Those races threw up numerous subsequent winners and this class 4 represents a drop in class He is near the foot of the weights and the trainer ha teamed up for 2 winners, 3 placers past month with Murtagh so again, at a price, a value play.

5:05 York

CAROLUS MAGNUS – 1 Pt EW @ 11/2 Skybet 6 places, 11/2 places generally

I tipped him at Newmarket 2 runs back if you recall and he travelled well but needed his seasonal reappearance. He very much caught the eye next time though over today’s C & D, given no chance drawn 20 then repeatedly denied a clear run before running on very strongly, He is again drawn wide but with cut in the ground the usually come centre to stands side so it shouldn’t be as much as a hindrance this time but who knows what jocks will do, your guess is as good as mine and they never cease to amaze?? Dropped a couple of pounds in the process, he is very well handicapped on old form now and should be the proverbial EW bet to nothing and should go close granted a fairer run at this race.

1:15 Haydock

CANDONOMORE – 1 Pt EW @ 10/1 boost Ladbrokes 4 places, 9/1 4 places generally

Bolted up over C & D on soft ground last time out, he looked a horse rapidly improving. He finished upsides favourite Nellie Leylax a couple of time last season yet gets a very handy weight pull and he already looks a better, stronger 3 year old. He has a lovely racing weight for the conditions and a nice draw to come with his customary long smooth strong run down the outside as the winners over this trip often do so I can see him going very close if he reproduces his last winning form.

1:30 Goodwood

NEWSREADER – 1/2 Pt EW @ 16/1 5 places generally

He has impressed me on the all weather with is winning attitude and the way he finishes his races off strongly. He is yet to race on turf but his pedigree suggests it shouldn’t be any problem, with his Dam’s sire, Fath, a brilliant 7 furlong horse who bolted up over C & D in a Group 3 the ONLY time he raced at Goodwood! The rookie trainer is mustard with his 1st time handicappers, recording a near 28 Win SR and he teams up brilliantly well with the jockey, who rides this track well and is in fact, 1 winner, 2 narrow seconds for him in in handicaps ALL TIME for him!

This race has gone to those in the bottom 5 stalls 9 times in the last 10 runnings so drawn 2, and the ground on the good side, all in all, I felt he was well worth a bet in this.

2:25 Haydock

ALASKAN GOLD – 1/2 Pt EW @ 50/1 Bet365 3 places, 33/1 3 places generally

A bit speculative but the favourite aside, this looks wide open. He finished in front of Esquire last season on similar ground yet is 5 times the price and I feel the key to him is soft ground on a flat track. They often come over to the stands side rail on this sort of ground which is a big advantage so this prominent racer, also a plus at this track, looks well berthed to get over from stall 6. Karl Burke is in tremendous form with 4 of his last 5 runners winning (2 at this level) and he also does very well with his runners here. All in all, looked too big @ 50’s so worth chancing I thought.

2:45 York

BROOKLYN NINE NINE – 3/4 Pt Win @ 7/1 Bet365, 13/2 generally

MANILA SCOUSE – 3/4 Pt Win @ 12/1 boost Lads, 11/1 generally

Instead of EW, win only the pair. The former has been very eye-catching of late and ran remarkably over C & D last back end. Manila Scouse was tipped LTO and what I said about him over C & D still stands. Drawn on the wrong side in that race, he will be up with pace, loves the ground and has been dropped a couple of pounds to 82 which can see him go very well.

3:00 Haydock

ABDUCTION – 1/2 Pt EW @ 25/1 Coral 3 places, 22/1 3 places generally

Tipped LTO at Ascot in a class 2, this race on soft ground round a bend is more his bag. Trainer/jockey combo on fire with 5 from their last 10 together winning and Mulrennan is 2 from 6, 4 places on him in 7 furlong handicaps so I thought well worth chancing with the extra 3rd place a bonus in this 7 runner event.

3:30 Haydock

GOOBINATOR – 3/4 Pt EW @ 20/1 Paddy Power 5 places, 16/1 5 Skybet, 20/1 4 generally

We saw today at Haydock the winning times were slow suggesting there is more heavy than soft in the description. Lots of horses wont handle it tomorrow but this horse absolutely relishes it! In fact, in 7 runs at this 2mile trip he is 5 wins, 2 seconds!! This is not a great Class 2 and he has run well in better races than this, including a brilliant 4th in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket last year on unsuitably quick ground. Goobinator’s form figures over C & D read 1,2,5 (the 5th in a class 2 on good ground not ideal but staying on) the trainer is in good form and teams up well with the jock so at a big price, can surely run a cracker for us off a lovely weight given the testing conditions and the the place terms on offer.
