Final Race Tips, Saturday 26th August 2023.

Good afternoon folks

Some corking results, unfathomable at times and not a great week so far!

One more bet for Saturday below the narrative, along with the selections already sent and their write up’s. Still a bagful of points in hand and my monetary pot so hopefully the all aged handicaps/stakes can reap reward tomorrow with a decent outlay.

“As previously stated, this will be treated as a ‘Festival’, these bets are kept separate from the main account and I will be personally throwing targeted darts at a few biggies! With the volume of racing coming up over the 4 day’s it’s sensible to do that.

I will be backing them to according stakes and I always put aside a 50 point x £30 stake bank for such meetings/weekends, knowing full well I could lose the lot which is most definitely NOT the plan!! Thats an average of 12.5 points per day over the 4 days

Rest assured these selections are picked in the same thorough, hard working way/manner as always.

We have nailed some cracking gains in the past so lets hope we can add to the weekend 16/1 winner….

5:20 York

OVIEDO – 1.75 Pt Win @ 9/1 generally

LOYAL TOUCH – 3/4 Pt Win @ 28/1 Will Hill, 25/1 generally

3 year old’s have a great record in this so I am hoping a good day is rounded off by either horse. Both prominent fast ground horses so fingers crossed.

1:50 York

SPIRIT DANCER – 1 Pt Win @ 12/1 boost Will Hill, 11/1 generally

CHICHESTER – 3/4 Pt Win @ 33/1 generally

Nostrum looks the obvious one but way too short IMO. Spirit Dancer is in the form of his life and absolutely adores this course so with his yard saying he is flying at home, worth a bet at the price. I can’t believe Chichester is such a big price, given his impressive victory over 1 mile here when he had 3-1 shot for this, EL Drama, well beaten off (off level weights so no difference) so worth chancing IMO.

An early race for tomorrow, more to follow later.

2:25 York

ALHAMBRA PALACE – 1.5 Pt Win @ 15/2 Will Hill, 7/1generally

GOLDEN MOVE – 1/2 Pt EW @ 20/1 4 places Will Hill, 18/1 4 places drifting generally

From a good family (his sire and dam sire ran 4 times here winning 3 & a shrt head defeat in Group races!) and took a marked step forward to make a successful handicap debut at Doncaster (11.9f) in July, travelling smoothly. Not disgraced when sixth in handicap at Ascot (12f) a couple of weeks back, catching the eye and a bit unlucky. Alhambra Palace looks extremely well handicapped still impressed in landing each of his last 2 starts, latterly at this trip, smooth travelling and he can make a bold bid from the foot of the weights for the stable that has landed this race in 2 of the last 4 seasons.

3:00 York

OLIVIA MARALDA – 1 Pt EW @ 12/1 4 places generally

2yo highlight was her Group 2 second at the Curragh (7f, good) behind subsequent Irish 1,000 Guineas runner-up Meditate, and she returned to form on her second start for this yard when beating Holguin and Streets Of Gold to win Epsom Listed race (7f, good to firm) on Oaks day, a very convincing winner in that last race and that performance makes her one to consider her with Guineas form also a must. She was drawn on the wrong side in the Jersey and came home strongly. There looks a ton of pace on in this, 3 year old’s have done well and the fillies allowance is useful so hopefully she can arrive on the scene late in the piece to take the spoils.

3:35 York

SCAMPI – 1.5 Pt Win @ 12/1 Corals generally

CAIUS CHORISTER – 3/4 Pt EW @ 40/1 5 places Bet365, 33/1 6 places & generally

Scampi is an old friend who I hope pays us back handsomely. This smooth traveller bolted up over 1m 4f here earlier in the year and this has been the plan since. 4 year old’s do exceptionally well and he fits the bill, as does Caius Chorister who, in the 3 year old version of this (2nd race on the card today) went clear only to be reeled in by a Group 1 horse in and handicap. He went hard and still held the pack off to finish 2nd and has been brought along with this surely in mind and we have seen ALL week prominent racers making hay, so she too can go well for the 4 year old brigade.

4:10 York

MUMS TIPPLE – 1 Pt EW @ 20/1 6 places generally

ALBASHEER – 1.25 Pt Win @ 20/1 generally

I have had my eye on both of these for big handicaps and have to back both. Mums Tipple went off 9/2 favourite for this last year and got murdered. Better off at the weights with winner that day Summerghand and has had him behind a few times this year. Albasheer is a class animal and as been shaping eye-catchingly well in big handicaps. A mark of 5, if taking to this track, then he surely gets involved.
