Good Afternoon folks
It’s always tough at this meeting but tomorrow, with big field, 2 & 3 year old guesswork sprints on the whole look nigh on impossible at first glance so I may not go mad tomorrow and give the bookies our points back needlessly. A race for tomorrow I do like, the only all aged handicap on the card is below. Probably more to follow later.
15 :40Ascot
WAR ROOMS –3/4 Point Win @ 15/2 Hills, 7/1 generally
STRESSFREE –3/4 Point Each Way @ 25/1 18/1 Hills boost 5 places, 16/1 5 places generally
War Rooms must surely have been massively targeted at this after the same yard won it last year and this improving 4 year old should go very well.
Our ideal contender though will be a four or five-year-old arriving here off the back of a victory and drawn in double figures – three strong trends for this handicap over 1m4f for older horses which produced just two qualifiers in 2022 and they went to provide the wide-margin winner, Candleford, and third. In addition, the 2019 and 2021 winners also hit all three trends square on the head when giving Hughie Morrison and Mark Johnston their fourth wins in this race.
Whilst not using rend per say, Stressfree is the ONLY qualifier this year and, although there could be something hidden, this ultra consistent performer is improving and should give his running at a good price.
