Tuxedo Junction was a two-and-a-quarter-length third to Mustazeed and Time Interval on that occasion, but he is 6lb better off with both after the runner-up’s subsequent heavy-ground win at Goodwood, and there are reasons for thinking he can improve past them anyway.
That was the four-year-old’s first run in six months and first since being gelded, and he is both a year younger and considerably less exposed than the pair who beat him.
His return was a clear career best, while his previous best according to Racing Post Ratings (better than his Ffos Las maiden win) came over course and distance last May.
