BEAMISH– 1/2 Pt EW @ 40/1 6 places Bet365, 33/1 6 places generally
I expect all 3 to go well and thought there was value/merit to go with them staking just 3 points. This is Flash Bardot’s time of year/ground and has bolted up off just a 3lb lower mark over C & D! She cantered into contention at Newbury last time (top on RPR’s in this race based off of that) and although the inside berth has been a negative in this race (hence going win only) she has everything else very much in her favour to go very close. Insanity’s Ascot form has worked out ridiculously well and I am hoping his run last time was down to the quick return/not liking the Knavesmire as he has disappointed there before and we know that York is a marmite track for a lot of horses. Rossa Ryan is that last effort and 2 wins the ONLY 3 times he has rode him so he goes in the mix, has does Beamish who is very well handicapped on old form that came over this trip in soft ground. IMO, he has been finding the trip too far of late, has a brilliant record at 1m 4f and the trainer has a 25% strike rate at the track which improves to an exceptional 40% (2 from 5) over C & D in the past 5 years! Win only is asking in a race like this with the first 2 but I they are improving 4 year old’s and that was the way I thought to approach the last big handicap of the flat season.
