One Further Selection, Sat 9th March 2023

Good evening folks

One further selection for Saturday is below, along with the ones already sent and their write up’s. Nothing more for Saturday.

2:40 Wolverhampton

DOCTOR KHAN JUNIOR – 1.5 Pt Win 9/2 generally

Two from two over C & D, both ephatic victories. Although a step up in grade, his times have warranted it and I envisage he will get the run of the race. If he does get loose on the lead, he will be very, very hard to peg back under a jockey that knows him exceptionally well and is 6 wins from 8 rides aboard him. The favourite has the best form but could prove vulnerable first time out so all in all this horse looks best to capitalise.

3:15 Wolverhampton

SMOKY MOUNTAIN – 3/4 Pt EW 15/2 4 places generally

Form figures at this track read, 1,1,2,2 and he looks perfectly drawn to stalk the pace which I see him doing. He travels strongly and looks very nicely weighted so this I can see this 4 year old son of Frankel going very close.

1:50 Sandown

DARTMOOR PIRATE – 1/2 Pt EW 18/1 boost 5 places William Hill, 16/1 5 places generally

The trainer is mustard with his horses going handicapping for the first time (past 2 years 7 winners 9 placers from 12 runners!!) and this horse bolted up the only time he has encountered soft ground over hurdles and then he ran well behind Sky Bet Supreme hope Tellherthename on better conditions at Huntingdon, where he was second and finished ahead of two subsequent winners in Home Free and Wise Guy, so it looks hot form.

He improved again behind another smart sort in Steel Ally at Wincanton, but that was again over two miles and he is expected to find another gear over this 2m4f trip given he’s a half-brother to Baradari and Especially So who both won over 2m5f and further. With Ben Godfrey taking another 3lb off he looks to have a good chance in this off 121.

2:25 Sandown

MAKING HEADWAY – 1.25 Pt Win 8/1 generally

JIPCOT – 1 Pt Win 6/1 generally

Two massively improving horses, Jipcot is obvious and 6’s was fair. Making Headway is a horse I very much like and this 2mile test, on terrain he will relish looks right up his street. His stable is very shrewd, especially with thheir handicappers and he has bypassed Graded events to come for this. I think they very uch have an eye on the ‘Double’ bonus, taking this en-route to a crack at the Coral Cup orMartin Pipe next week. If he wins this, and I think he can, he would be a serious player in either race and his price would collapse.(I have backed him non runner no bet for both..currently 33’s for the Coral & 20’s for the conditionals race)

3:00 Sandown

PLANTAROMA – 1/2 Pt EW 33/1 4 places generally

Caught the eye on first start when running a little green after making smooth headway. Should know more this time and the jockey booking very much hints at a big performance is in the offing and I thought the price was ludicrously too big so worth chancing.
