I had a good look at tomorrow’s last day of the St Ledger meeting and nothing stood out so NO Bets. It’s not the greatest of cards to be honest and why they’ve moved it to a Sunday from the usual Wednesday I have no idea?
Ground has scuppered the last few Festivals for me, which I normally excel at, but I suppose you cannot win at them all and no excuses from me. Disappointing yes of course!!
My strongest and biggest bet of the meeting was La Trinidad but it was that gluey, sticky ground which I said and feared. He travelled as I thought but couldn’t’ use a usual turn of foot but still ran well. The 3 year old never makes the running yet did keenly and paid the price. Raatea lost it at the start and like La Trinidad would have wanted better ground. |Dark Pine was a disappointment back at his favourite haunt, he’s just not n love with it IMO.
The stakes races again proved disappointing and I said at the last I wouldn’t tackle as many yet I feel obliged somewhat at these Big ‘Festivals’ to provide you with selections and to be honest have landed 50/1 winners but they are a weak point for me and very tricky to solve. Quantity over quality or fewer bets? I don’t know so any feedback would be welcome.
The reasoning is good and for all to see, hard work and research, just sometimes the way the races are going to be run is hard to fathom with where they are going to go/best part of the track. We saw with the Portland, the pace I had down as high but we were dead from the start with the far side (and massively weighted horses) dominating!
On we move and it’s a good month for the Main account YET again!
This week is quiet so I will return throughout the day on Friday for Saturday’s no doubt busy afternoon’s action.
