The Week Ahead

Morning folks

A profitable Festival for us with well over +20 points profit snared. El Jefe (yet again the only 2mile handicap hurdle) was my biggest winning tip to date @ 80’s & even 66’s but as per, it could and should have been better.

Yet again, trying to take on these blue blood, massively priced purchases from Ireland seems fruitless. We must try to stop them from cleaning up but who can challenge their firepower. As with Cheltenham, we saw nearly ALL the favourites win, even the handicaps and the National was totally dominated by the Irish. I’m afraid, I haven’t enjoyed these past couple of Festivals despite making good profit, don’t know if you feel the same?

I like to take on favs but it’s ridiculous how many have gone in. Your average Joe will pat himself on the back, but if I tip an EVEN money shot and it gets trounced, I look the mug IMO. and it doesn’t matter what race, there are horses I like/follow that represent good value when we get the prices and that’s KEY in the long run.

Yesterday was very frustrating as Forward Plan got messed about and could probably have won and Buddy One travelled well but went for home too soon possibly. The agony was reserved for Master Chewy who was nailed, you guessed it, by an Irish hotpot. I thought we had got it which would have made for a great Festival but it wasn’t to be. Libberty Hunter ran a cracker at a massive 33’s in hindsight I wish I had gone EW the pair.

The National was a disappointment, suppose the best horse won and we move on.

It is the 3 day Newmarket Craven meeting Tuesday through to Saturday. It is early days in the Flat season, they have messed around with the calendar and it is now wisely accepted it gets into gear at the May meeting. Saying that, I will take a cautious approach I think but obviously put in the hard work to come up with any selections for us.

I will be back from Tomorrow afternoon onwards with any Day 1 selections or update either way.
