Morning folks
A small profit on a tough day and a good week at York with over +12 points bagged added to the coffers. Another big priced placer would have been nice and I am kicking myself for going Final Watch over Carrytheone as I almost went the other way and we saw what happened!
Losers will inevitably occur at our prices but I am very good at picking them out (strong, smooth travellers improving & well handicapped) for a good reason and felt we were a very unfortunate yesterday with Maxi King (went well) 4th instead of third, Into Battle & Darkness both 5th when we needed 4th!
They ALL travelled well but Darkness was hampered and the other 2 travelled very well. I was getting excited but they couldn’t quite extricate a nice position early enough to launch stronger challenges sooner at 40/1.
Witch Hunter was a good selection and ran a cracker for us. Is it me though but the pace of these flat races and front running is grating on me badly. We get a front runner and it drops in a hole?
Still, we are building a nice stable of runners to go to war with for this flat campaign and I am certain they WILL pay us back at some point. That’s the key, long term approach and profit as we have seen time and time again, this game is so so tough the day picked is invariably not the day due to the nature of the beast and circumstances.
One horse I think that WILL win a decent a big handicap for us is AALTO. He is a lovely traveller and loomed up like the winner but IMO he didn’t like the quickening ground but still landed the place spoils for us. A big field, straight 1mile handicap with cut in the ground is his bag IMO so maybe backend is his time.
On we go and the week ahead is quiet, There are 2 day meetings at Goodwood & Haydock starting Friday then York & Chester join the party for a good looking Saturday.
With that being said, I shall have a look at the Friday action and post any selections late afternoon onwards on Thursday. If nothing can be found I will mail out either way.
