The Week Ahead

Morning folks

Mental fatigue has set in I feel and 4 points dropped yesterday, I expected a tough day given the Shergar Cup but no damage and we move on. I thought Silent Film was a knocker for the 1st four given his last 2 runs and strong running on 4th in the same race last year but he got an awful ride racing prominent and wide IMO which was game over. The going again is a cause for concern as that is PARAMOUNT when selecting horses but the ground at Haydock was NOWHERE near good to firm and times/jockey comments suggest so!

It was agony waiting for the line with the Nap, Al Marmar, and he was the difference between a winning day or not!

I am gutted as our horse Burdett, won the last but overnight he was 5/2 and was pulled out the previous Saturday due to the ground. Had I known beforehand I would have tipped him.

I have been on the go for for a full 18 months now without a break and I had planned to go away last week knowing it was Shergar Cup day but I had an hospital appointment that I needed to attend. This game tames lions and is very, very challenging, both mentally and emotionally. You know full well I care a lot more than them all and want us to be the best and do well.

Instead, I am off for well earned/deserved week in the sun on Tuesday. I need to recharge my batteries and just relax for a while and intend to return, invigorated and ready to rock, for the EBOR Festival at York in just over weeks time, 4 days of quality racing with plenty of action for us!

So I have planned to give it a break this Friday/Saturday with no selections. I hope you understand. Knowing me I may have a little look the weekend and if doing so I may unearth something. I will send out a courtesy mail either way.

I will most definitely be back Tuesday 20th August from late afternoon onwards for the opening days selections for York Day 1.
