The Week Ahead

Afternoon Folks

A very profitable weekend, Al Dancer did the business in style and I thought Richmond Lake was going to go very close to winning but his effort petered out on the long run in, most probably needing the run despite his record when fresh. The weight may have also told as the bottom 3 in the weights filled the first three places?

The flat selections underperformed again but Thunderbear was another who travelled well, not given a great ride IMO, nor did Admiral D & Flash Bardot in particular, the latter given a ridiculous ride. I will be glad to see the back of the the turf flat season.

It is clear times/watering/draw and the compression of weights etc have drastically changed from back in the day with little to choose between ratings and ability in handicaps so I am thinking for next season to tweak my approach given I have NEVER seen so many prominent/front running horses win. It cannot be down to jockey class as I have said many times this lot are no Cauthen’s, Pigggot’s, Dettori’ss et al.

Friday sees Day 1 of the three day Cheltenham November fixture, some cracking racing to look forward to. Let’s hope that the field sizes hold up as the drying weather is causing concern. The clerk of the course is already watering which at this time of year is unbelievable!

I will have an in depth look at the Friday card on Thursday and will post out, if I can find any, selections from late that afternoon onwards but will mail out either way.
