Morning folks
Well the National Hunt season is going to plan thus far. We have been on numerous massively punted horses, value obtained, and the consensus of the betting population concur so I feel I am on the right ones so to say but I appreciate they have to do their job and win or place on an EW bet which they aren’t at this moment in time.
Pretending, Norman Fletcher, Wreckess Eric, Gaboriot etc smashed in the betting and yes we landed with a 8/1 winner yesterday which limited the damage but by my standards, you know me, I’m not happy.
What is frustrating me, and very very irritated to put it mildly, is how many front runners are winning!
Never, EVER, in over 30 years of racing have I seen so many winners make all! (backed up by stats I have done)
You could say back the front runner but that’s a puzzle in it’s own right, total guesswork and the obvious ones are getting beaten (Pretending etc) Take Miribad on Friday & Jungle Jack yesterday. They are my races, 2 mile handicap hurdles, and we were annoyingly beaten into 2nd by horses doing things they had NEVER done before! I cannot legislate for that and it’s galling!
I am hoping it is a ‘Freak’ period as even the flat was the same. Big, Heritage, massive field handicaps like the Cambridgeshire, Victoria Cup & Tote International etc were WON by the front runner, top weighted middling handicappers to boot!
I cannot explain or fathom it and it is what it is. I am hoping it is just a period but I may have to try and tweak the approach ( It should be form right?) but it is worrying, as is the way our racing is going with the 3 Billion black hole in getting a bet on very damaging also!
Anyway, I feel it more than most but we move on. It is Ascot Friday/Saturday so I will be back next on Thursday, late afternoon onwards with any selections or update for the Friday.
