Morning folks
A near break even Festival, seems that way at the moment, but no damage being done and a long term approach must be adopted to profit form this tough, tough sport.
So many uncontrollables (even the bloody starts now!) Apart from the obvious short priced favourites that anybody can pick, there were some tough to find, seemingly out of form winners.
Racing has changed immeasurably, as I said with the Cambridgeshire, never in over 100 years has a horse carried 10st to victory, even future Group 1 winners couldn’t do it. This was echoed by the National. It is ridiculous that the 1st 3 were from the top 4 in weights! and I didn’t overly enjoy what is a great race to watch.
You have to adopt, as in life, but I would normally side against the top weights in big handicaps and these front runners but a lot of the races are being run at ridiculously slow paces.
Going forward, it’s seems I need to adapt my approach a little which is strange/tough having had a successful one for 30 years!
Anyway, we move on and this week sees the Scottish Grand National two day meeting at Ayr, along side the Flat with the Spring Mile at Newbury my kind of race.
It’s time to switch into flat mode I feel but this Ayr meeting is the last of the big ones for me so with that, I will be back late Thursday afternoon onwards with any selections for Friday.
