The Week Ahead

Good Morning folks

A nice near +10 points profit yesterday which again could have been better with the rub of the green. Cavern Club was my Nap and did as expected in good fashion. This rapidly improving 5 year old WILL win a good 2mile handicap this coming winter jumps season and I shall follow him closely.

I don’t know if I have run over a black cat or something, but the things that happen to our horses in races are simply flabbergasting!

The ONLY horse to pull in the first handicap hurdle, and he pulled like a train all the way, was OUR Ballygeary. I thought he would drop out the back of the T.V given what he had done but he tanked and could have won in another stride or two. That horse WOULD have won if he had settled just a little better which would have given an extra 13 points.

Cannot explain Ain’t Nobody’s run, given Big Mojo form and then Arizona Blaze winning at the Curragh. Newbury is rapidly losing it’s lustre as a Grade 1 track, the results apart from the obvious Super Sprint result, were unfathomable. A poor Premier race day and I feel sorry for the punters who had to pay a whopping £60 just to get into the Tatts!!

I do think Ardisia was a little unlucky and would have been in the 5 as tipped IMO with a clear run. Slow start again? Then the jockey switched centre. Why?

Racing Post stated: simply did not get the chance to show what he could do. He very much caught the eye and, recently gelded, is worth keeping an eye on with improvement possible.

The worst was to come though. I strongly fancied Lord Bertie but again another slow start. What do these trainers do? If they were American they would be lynched! But have you EVER seen that happen to a horse with the hood blinding him? Always seems to be ours in the whole field but racing tames lions they state and after doing this for so, so many years you get a feeling you may struggle on any given day which I thought yesterday so I am very pleased to come out with a good profit for us.

We move on and Friday sees the start of both Ascot and York hosting two day, hopefully, quality meetings, so I will be back next late Thursday afternoon onwards with any selections for Friday.
