Morning Folks
A very profitable weekend, as usual, it could have been huge. I must say the draw is playing more and more of a definitive role in races. It’ like equine bingo and you’d think wouldn’t you, especially in this day and age of technology, the powers that be could provide a level playing field?? All week you needed to be middle to high at Newmarket yet those on the stands side were absolutely stuffed so how that works I do not know? Dual Identity and Mr King both ran crackers their side but simply had no chance.
Of course, our big EW hope finished 7th on the far side and there again, the drying of the ground went against us and him and he was held off by our old friend, EBT’s Guard! (nearly sent him at 100’s damn)
Trilby cantered into contention yet the draw did for his win. I feel had he been the other side he would have most likely have won?
Two nice winners though so it is what it is.
The week ahead is the usual stuff,. Ascot sees a decent looking card this far out on Friday and obviously we get the competitive Saturday cards.
I will look at the Friday card and post out any selection(s) if I can find them Thursday late afternoon onwards but will update accordingly.
I had a good look at the big handicap today at the Curragh and will go with an old friend as below.
4:25 Curragh
ZOFFEE – 1/2 Pt EW @ 36/1 boost Will Hill 6 places, 33/1 6 places generally
Did us a nice turn winning the Chester Cup, Hugo Palmer has a good record with his limited Irish Raiders at this track (since early 2021, 7 runners, 2 winners/3 placers) so seemingly well drawn, he travels well and if he can get on terms I feel he can be there at the finish. An ultra competitive handicap, I though at the big price, with form against many of these, he was worth chancing.

Hugo Palmer, trainer: “It should be quite nice ground and he’s in great order. I think that stiff two and a bit miles is super for him. It’s a big field so they should go a good gallop and we’re excited about giving it a go.”
