Two for Friday

Hi folks

I was going to say it has been tough on the flat thus far as expected and indeed it has. Some unfathomable results. The dog track that is often Newmarket, the front running haven has thrown up so massive shocks but at least we landed one and how do you predict a tailwind the night before??

I have had a bereavement in the family unfortunately but two for tomorrow are below. I anticipate/envisage that I will be back tomorrow as usual for Saturdays action but please bear with me just in case.

2:12 Newbury

BERNARDO O’REILLY – 3/4 Pt EW @ 12/1 5 places generally

Loves this track, especially on his favoured soft ground which it is and hopefully it doesn’t dry out too much. He is 2 wins and a narrow second over C & D and took this very race last year off a mark of 83. Although now 10, he showed after that in good handicaps he was no back number and indeed followed the exact same path to this race this season by blowing away the cobwebs at Doncaster, staying nicely in his usual style. He runs off a generous looking 78 today and if we factor in the useful claimers 5lb, it takes him down to 73! His trainer is in cracking form also with 9 winners from his past 19 runners so at his favourite haunt, the veteran was well worth chancing IMO

2:20 Ayr

SHOESHINE BOY – 1/2 Pt EW @ 20/1 5 places generally

Loves this C & D, registering 2 wins & a short head 2nd from 3 attempts to date. Likes the ground and has a nice weight to carry in conditions so rated an EW bet a big looking price to me.
