Two Further Selections, Saturday 2nd Sept 2023

Good evening folks

A couple more bets for tomorrow below, along with the ones already mailed and their write up’s. Nothing further for Saturday.

5:00 Beverley

PARK STREET – 1/2 Pt EW @ 22/1 boost Will Hill, 20/1 3 places generally

The 4 year old son of New Approach seems to come alive at this track and he is a big price against these, many who have forgotten how to win! He was an impressive winner over the extended 7F trip here in late June, very strong at the finish after travelling smoothly so this extra furlong promises to suit. IMO, he has found softish conditions against him thereafter but LTO, back on his favoured Good/Good to Firm ground, he stayed on well from and uncompromising track position at Thirsk last Saturday. That was last week and interestingly, the little known trainer has a tremendous record with horses returning to the track within 7 days of their last run. She has produced 3 winners, 4 placers from 8 runners, all in all, an interesting proposition at a big price in this back on that last winning mark.

5:20 Sandown

SPRING BLOOM – 3/4 Pt EW @ 17/2 4 places Will Hill, 8/1 4 places generally drifting

Caught my eye over C & D LTO, running on strongly after a tardy start which was unlike him and he would have won in another stride. That was a Class 3 event, strong form and this consistent type has tackled Class 2’s previously. He drops into a Class 4 tomorrow for the first time in 10 runs and that is the line in for me. The last time he did he bolted up by near 3 lengths.

In fact, he has NEVER been out of the frame over 5, and 6 furlongs, in 9 runs to date! And his form figures at 5F read a cracking 1,2,3,2,1 from 5 efforts, including 3 narrow defeats over C & D! In sprints we always need luck but he is well berthed in stall 4 so if he breaks smartly, he can track a strongish looking pace and pounce late in the piece and worth chancing with Kingscote an eye-catching booking.

1:35 Chester

HODLER – 3/4 Pt EW @ 16/1 4 places generally

This likeable 4 year old was tipped LTO at Newbury if you recall where he got no run and I think we can excuse that. He has run at this unique track just once, absolutely bolting up from a very wide draw which marks it up further. Although that was a Class 4 and he needs to prove himself at this level, the form of that race has worked out tremendously well with no fewer than 6 individual winners well beaten. The 2nd Gorak was thrashed and won a Class 3 next time out. The 3rd, Paws For Thought won 3 of his next 4 and he was beaten 4 lengths! Another Batt was 5th, he won 2 of his next 3 and for good measure the 6th, Maysong, won a Class 2 handicap at Sandown thereafter. The icing on the cake though is his reuniting with useful claimer Ryan Sexton. He rode him to that impressive track win and has a truly remarkable record aboard this horse. Indeed, he has ridden him 7 times on turf, recording 4 wins, two narrow 2nd’s and a just beaten 3rd!! There looks to be plenty of pace on in this and if anywhere near that track win (very strong at the finish so slight extra yardage shouldn’t inconvenience?) we are getting 16/1 about his chances so let’s hope Ryan can make it a 5th win for us!

1:50 Sandown

IMDEMNIFY – 1.25 Pt Win @ 11/2 generally

KING CABO – 3/4 Pt EW @ 20/1 Bet365 4 places 16/1 & 14/1 4 places generally

Normally on a weekend I wouldn’t go two in a race but King Cabo was such a price I had to throw him in given how this may play out/luck in running.

Imdemnify is the class act in the race, loves this track and is a strong traveller so the drop back the 7 furlongs promises to suit even better than the mile. Win only as drawn on the rail and he was extremely unlucky from a similar position at the track LTO. King Cabo is steadily improving and could be dangerous, off the front (massive advantage at the last Sunday series meeting) from the foot of the weights. The jockey is great making the running at this track and is an eye-catching 3 wins, 4 placers from 8 mounts ALL time for the yard and I expect bold showings from both these improving 4 year old’s.

3:00 Sandown Saturday

DUAL IDENTITY – 1.25 Pts EW @ 10/1 5 places Skybet, 9/1 boost Will Hill 5 places, 9/1 4 places generally

Loves this C & D and quickish ground, his form figures at this track and trip read 1,2,5 but that only tells half the story as he travelled like a dream on each occasion, latterly finding the trip on Soft ground a bit too far despite cantering clear. His win was impressive and he was short headed in this very race last season, making a storming run after again travelling smoothly but given way, way too much to do and he narrowly missed. He is a 1lb lower here and has been running much, much better than seems in the top handicaps. Trainer could be in a lot better form which is a concern, but IMO this horse is Seriously well handicapped now so well worth backing!
