Good Evening folks
Remember this is a ‘Festival’ folks and a pot of 50 points is what I use personally but it’s whatever you fell comfortable with given the amount of selections as with Ascot.
I have left out the impossible 2 year old races & maiden and would much prefer to have a couple running for us the handicaps at good prices. Two further tips for Day 1 are below, nothing more to follow for Tuesday. Back throughout the tomorrow with Day 2 selections.
1:50 Goodwood
TONY MONTANA – 3/4 Pt EW @ 16/1 Boost Will Hill & Lads 5 places, 14/1 5 places generally
Another 4 year old improver, he too ran a cracker in the John Smith’s Cup at York where he was compromised by track position on Enfjaar who is a worthy fav and this time Tony is 5lb better off for a 2 length beating and I think he can definitely shake him up and be seriously involved if bring his seasons form to the table and worth adding to Dual Identity in what is always a very tough race.
DUAL IDENTITY – 1 Pt EW @ 22/1 boost Hills 5 places, 20/1 5 places generally
5:55 Goodwood
SIXTIES CHIC – 1/2 Pt EW @ 16/1 4 places generally (B.O.G with some and drifting so may get bigger)
A rapidly improving daughter of Sixties Icon, she should relish the course as her father did (He ran here 3 times winning ALL 3!) and she ran better than the bare form LTO at Windsor when going for a hat-trick. She was held up when it paid to be prominent then not the clearest of runs before coming with her trademark strong late finish to be beaten not far in 6th. That was under today’s pilot Charles Bishop, who has a cracking 25% Win, 55% place record over this distance for the trainer but even more eye-catching is his record riding her. Given that last run pass in 6th, his record aboard her over 6F reads an impressive 1,1 (DSQ 1,2,1!!
There looks lots of pace assigned on in this on paper which will suit her late finishing style and if she gets a clean, clear run at things at this notoriously tricky course, then she looked a good value play IMO.
